James Blish Star Trek cover numerals

Old nerds will instantly recognise these as the numerals used on the covers of the James Blish Star Trek adaptations. All my own vector recreations, of course. Still technically a WIP, but I may or may not return to these later.

I think the covers used at least two different typefaces, both considerably stretched. Note the different serifs on the 1 and 4 (except the 1 used on book 12). I've been trying - without much luck - to identify the typeface(s) used for the numerals on the covers of the old James Blish Star Trek books. It's a highly stylish fat face Didone with some unique qualities I haven't been able to tie to any particular font. The '4' is a particular curiosity.

That's Numberwang!

Recreation of the numeral 2, plus my own modified version. The thin parts of the strokes are thinner in this version and that will be consistent across all numerals. Also the tips are pointed instead of rounded and now match the '5' and '7' etc.

My notes on the unique qualities of the typeface found on the James Blish covers, with some similar fonts. There are THOUSANDS in this general style, so narrowing it down may prove to be quite difficult.
