Retro 80s Star Trek logo design

I genuinely love the lettering created for TMP, in large part because it is so unique. The use of URW Corporate on 'The Wrath of Khan' titles always bothered me because it was such a generic sci-fi font and it broke the otherwise very consistent identity for the classic movie series. This logo is the result of me pondering: "What if the motion pictures had used an original typeface more in the style of the TWoK lettering?" I also wanted to show the lineage from the original series logo, as well as maybe throw in some nods to the actual movie lettering. I wasn't happy until I slanted the letters and suddenly things started vibing.

Some letter shapes in a new but familiar Star Trek style. My main references are Horizon, Galaxy and of course URW Corporate seen up top. The solid letters are my favourites but the outlined ones are alternates that I still feel have potential.

This is more what I had in mind at the outset: an 80s update of the original logo.
